When you llok the outer, the fruit has dark-brown or nearly black, flaking bark, the inner bark containing much yellow, gummy, bitter latex. It flesh is highly valued for its juicy, delicate texture and slightly sweet and sour flavor.

Regarding the nutritional value of the mangosteen, it is moderately low in calories, contains no saturated fats or cholesterol. it is good source of vitamin B and C. It contains also lot of minerals like copper, manganese, magnesium and Potassium.
